What is Teletherapy?

Teletherapy involves the use of interactive technologies allowing the client and therapist to share information remotely to achieve the same goals as in-person therapy.  Staff at SBH have completed formal training in teletherapy, and utilize Telehealth by Simple Practice for encrypted video and audio transmission that complies with HIPAA standards for privacy.  This service is available to California residents only.  Pros and cons of teletherapy include:

  • Increased access to care and convenience
  • Researchers have shown teletherapy effective for many situations
  • Same ethical and legal principles apply
  • Same cost as in-person therapy
  • Most insurance companies offer reimbursement (check yours for details)
